Beat and Notation
I think that beat and notation includes rythym and beats. It can have repetitive beats and different kinds of rythym. The rythym in a song i think is the background beat that carries the song. The beat that pretty much makes a song a song. Without the background beat a song wouldnt be a song. A rythym can be made through alot of things such as hands, feet, and a variety of instruments. All cultures use different beats and notations and in different ways. For example their is maoris who use beat and notation in our traditional kapahaka performances, Samoans use beats and notations in their traditional Sasa And the list goes on. Beat and notation can be used in all places. It can be a leader clapping once and a group following that simple clap. Beat and notation is used with keys. Showing key symbols and the note it stands for. Copying the key and the symbols can creae a beat (: I dont know very much about Beat and notation but im still learning.
Term 3
"WOW" im a 21st century learner !
So what is that exactly ?
To me it means comparing the way i learn to the way my grandparents learnt. These days we learn through alot more digital devices. When back then they learnt through alot more books and things. So lets get entangled into this conversation. As a 21st century learner im more likely to be able to use new technology and be able to understand how it functions. The device I would like to talk about today is (dodododododododododododododo) (pull phone out of pocket) "Hello im trying to do a speech here"! Yup you guessed correctly CELLPHONES (:
The reason I chose to talk about cellphones is because to me my cellphone is my everything. I'd be lost without it. Every where I go my cellphone is sure to follow. I remember this one time I was I was walking around the house as happy as could be, when I turned to see my grandmother sitting on her couch, glasses on and texting with her index finger! Whats up with that? I dont need glasses to text and I use my thumb to text but thats because I find it easier then texting like my Nanny! I guess at the end of the day the message is sent, she can text so yeah!Another thing about texting isn't the text meant to be shorter? Thats what my uncle asked me. Looking a it I dont sound any brainier inserting leters and spelling you y-h-u-u or even speling to t-2. Sooner or later I think that text language is going to ruin our spelling language. Because right now people are already using text language when they're not supose to! And yes his does affect me and that is because if I continue to use this language then im going to start to think that text language is spelling language. Then my world will become a very confusing place! Now moving on lets talk about my cellphone... My phone is OMEGALLY KOOL (: But that would be because of the awesome owner nah I was just joking or was I? Nah yeah I was! My phone is a Navy Blue xt telecom fliptop samsung! With orange nail polish on the back. I love it because im able to text / call on it / as soon as someone sends me a message I receive it / I can take picture of me, my friends, my family, randoms, of anything really / I can video record people / listen to music as im falling asleep / bluetooth things and it has a memory card (: i love my cellphone and im pretty sure it loves me too! The reason I think an 18th century learner would want a cellphone is because its easy to carry around and its easy to use! Sorry you have insufficient funds to make this call please wait while I redirect you to the top up menu (: Thank you for listening to my speech!

ECO HUT13.05.10
Monday the 24th of May 2010
At th beginning of creating the Eco Hut we were split into four different groups. We all had a chance to create our very own Eco Hut. In our groups we decided on our favorite one from the groups. At the end we had four Eco Hut designs and we had to have a class vote to choose which one we wanted to make come alive. Jordyns design won the class vote and we decided on which materials to use. We decided on: Bamboo for the back and two side walls,4 poes 2,6m long for the four main pou,4 1m boards for the roof frame, Cement to keep the pou in the ground, Harakeke to keep the walls together and Tikauka leaves for decoration.
We begun on our beautiful creation and things just fell into place. Our groups were... Designing team - Jordyn, Stacey, Tamara, and Ashleigh. Resource team - Horiana, Hiwirori, Dallas, and Antonio. Building team - Jarryd, Shagan, Aroha and Tiare. Presenting team - Ethan, Alisha, Andrea and I. But quickly along the process the groups changed. As a class we collected resources. The girls went to Mangatu Marae to get harakeke and the boys went to Uncle Albies to get some bamboo. When we were all at school, the boys cut the bamboo to the right length and had it all nicely placed along the grass. The girls were in the library stripping the harakek and plaiting it all together. We ended up with a pile of plaited harakeke and a pile of 2 metre long bamboo. After our harakeke and bamboo was all collected we had other resources to collect. Our class went to Papa Kupus pig farm to collect Tikauka for the four main pou and Corrugated Iron for the roof. All these were taken back to school for us to get closer to actually making the Eco Hut. We had to dig holes to put the pou in and fill in the holes with cement so then it was firmly secured into the ground. After the pou were in the ground we we begun on the walls. We were putting bamboo together and tying it together with the plaited harakeke. We continued this process until the two side walls and back wall were completed. We used real estate signs and recycled wood for the entrance. Last job we completed was putting the corrugated iron on the top to create a roof and nail it down. We done some finishing touchs and used Tikauka leaves to decorate the master piece.
The new presenting team Andre, Stacey, and I went to Ngatapa School and Makauri School to see their Eco Huts. We done peer review judging at each school and wrote what we liked and didnt like about their Eco Huts. Our school took out 4 out of 7 catergories so we think we won. To complete our Eco Hut creation we had a grand opening and invited our family and community to come along. Andrea, Stacey and I had to present our Eco Hut once again but this time to our School. Family and Comunity. After we had finished we had a mouthwatering lunch as a group. It was great to know our Eco Hut had been completed, we won, and all our hard work had actually payed off ! YAY WHATATUTU ! :)
